Frequently Asked Questions
Does my voice data leave my device?
No. Nova Dictate uses Apple's on-device Speech Recognition framework for voice-to-text. Your raw audio recordings are processed entirely locally and are never uploaded to any server or sent to OpenAI.
How does the optional OpenAI AI processing work?
When you explicitly choose to use AI features (such as grammar correction or text polishing), the selected text transcript is sent securely over HTTPS to OpenAI's API. Per OpenAI's official Business API privacy policy, data sent via API is NOT used to train OpenAI models.
What languages are supported?
Nova Dictate currently supports English audio transcription. Additional languages may be added in future updates based on Apple's Speech Recognition capabilities.
How does the free 3-minute allowance work?
Every new device gets 3 minutes of dictation time. This allowance is granted once per device and is not reset by reinstalling the app or deleting your account.
What's the difference between PRO and token packs?
PRO subscribers enjoy unlimited dictation for the duration of their subscription. Token packs add a fixed number of minutes to your balance that never expire — useful for occasional users who don't want a subscription.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your Apple ID, select Subscriptions, and tap Nova Dictate. You can cancel there at any time.
Where are my transcripts stored?
All transcripts are stored locally in an SQLite database on your device. They are not synced to any cloud. If you delete the app, your transcripts are permanently removed.
