Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of the Nova DocScaniOS application and related backend service operated by NOVA INDIE (the “Service”). By using the app or completing a purchase you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Standard EULA for Licensed Application End Users, incorporated by reference. Where they conflict, these Terms control for Service-specific matters.

1. The Service

Nova DocScan allows you to capture images of documents and extract structured text using our proprietary local Large Language Models (LLM) hosted on our secure, private servers. No third-party AI APIs are used. The backend manages your anonymous account, credit balance, and purchase status. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”

2. Account & Credits

  • On first launch, an anonymous guest account is created and tied to a device identifier. No sign-in is required.
  • Scanning and extracting data from documents consumes Credits.
  • Deleting your account and registering again on the same device will not grant you new free credits or reset your previous state.

3. Subscriptions — auto-renewable

  • Plans:
    • Nova DocScan Monthly Pro, USD 7.99 / month — Includes 200 processing credits per month.
  • Introductory offer. Eligible new subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial of Nova DocScan Monthly Pro, which includes 20 free trial credits. Apple shows the exact price and trial terms on the purchase sheet before you confirm.
  • Billing. If you start the introductory offer, your Apple ID is charged when the 7-day trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you are not eligible for the introductory offer, payment is charged at confirmation of purchase.
  • Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple will charge the renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • Management & cancellation.You can review, manage and cancel the subscription at any time in  Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on the same Apple ID used to purchase.

4. Consumable Credit Packs

  • Credit packs are one-time consumable purchases:
    • Mini Pack — 15 Credits, USD 1.99
    • Standard Pack — 50 Credits, USD 4.99 (Best Value)
    • Pro Pack — 120 Credits, USD 9.99
  • Credit packs can be purchased by both free users and PRO subscribers.
  • Consumable credits do not expire and remain on your device balance.

5. Refunds

Subscriptions and credit packs are purchased through the Apple App Store. Refunds are handled by Apple, in accordance with Apple's policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Please see our Refund Policy for details.

6. Content ownership & AI Processing

  • You retain full ownership of the documents you scan and the extracted text.
  • You are responsible for the content you scan. Do not use the Service to process illegal content.
  • Images processed by our server are never used to train our local LLM models. They are securely processed in-memory and instantly deleted after the extraction is complete.

7. Termination

We may suspend access if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion. See our Account Deletion guide.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NOVA INDIE is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Extraction accuracy depends on camera quality, document lighting, handwriting clarity, and layout complexity.
